ACID WITCH
ACID WITCH
Stoned
(Hells Headbangers Records)
40:43min

I will proudly admit that I adored the first ACID WTICH LP, "Witchtanic Hellucinations". I will also stipulate to the fact that I found "Witchtanic Hellucinations" a little on the lighter side, what with all the melodious soloing and keyboarding. This is not to say that those things are bad - they aren't. I only mean that that is what the first LP was. To me. There's certainly a fair share of that on the new record, "Stoned" - however this second LP displays those qualities as accentuating a deeper darkness. Perhaps the departure of vocalist Lasse Pyykkö of HOODED MENACE was like the uncorking of a pressurized bottle of heavy-as-shit poison. "Stoned" is now to heavy Stoner Rock what Scooby Doo is to children's entertainment: impossible to separate. If the first record can be described as a skip through the witches' swamp, this is A record thoroughly enjoyed. Happy Holidays, you weeds. :P www.myspace.com/acidwitch, www.hellsheadbangers.com
