ANARCHOS
ANARCHOS
Descent Into The Maelstrom
(Vic Records)
22:32min

ANARCHOS is a young Dutch Death Metal band, formed in 2010, featuring members from BURNING HATRED and ETERNAL SOLSTICE and others. This EP is their first, released on Vic Records in February 2014, and features 5 tracks that drip from old school Death Metal. Their style made me think of a mix between (old) GOREFEST, ASPHYX and BOLT THROWER. The vocals are raw and were a reason to mention the three monickers before. The production is very downtuned and recalled references to Swedish or Finnish veterans. The drums are a plus and the driving force in all tracks. The guitars are decent, but miss that bit of catchiness or in any case the sublimity to make this EP stand out in the avalance of releases that formed, improved and perfected this genre. Some passages are cool, but for me not a decisive factor to encourage a purchase… unless you can’t get enough of this nostalgic sound of course.
