New Zombie Dead
(self-financed)
19:46min

Bremen's ANTAGONIST have been around for 10 years already, but this is the first CD I finally get to hear. They're playing quite some unique Thrash Metal that reminds me a little of KREATOR because just like Mille and Co., ANTAGONIST are very aware of dynamics: it's not only full speed ahead all the time, variety plays an important role here. One has to get accustomed to Michael Simon's vocals, though, as well as to the underground production. It's not bad at all, just different from what one usually gets and this even turns out to be quite refreshing. What really gives me some trouble are the vocals: the more I listen to "New Zombie Dead", the more Michael gets on my nerves: he should really work on it to make it appear less monotonous: his unique voice sounds okay to me but he'd really have work out the vocal lines and make them a little more variable. Apart from that: cool CD! www.antagonist.info
