APOCALYPTIC RAIDS
APOCALYPTIC RAIDS
Only Death Is Real...
(Demise Records)
39:00min

I already told you my detailed opinion about Brazil's APOCALYPTIC RAIDS in the other review which is featured somewhere else on this page, so I can keep it short this time. "Only Death Is Real" is the band's first full length album and it features Ÿ of the songs that already appeared on the band's 1999 Reh.Demo. Compared to their earlier material, they managed to evolve into a little more unique direction after all, even though every die hard fan will pretty easily still recognize all those recycled old HELLHAMMER and CELTIC FROST riffs and song structures throughout the 39 minutes. But due to APOCALYPTIC RAIDS' more brutal vocal approach these days, they already managed to get away a little more from that comparison. A wise decision, cause they definitely have the right feeling for brutal Old school Metal. They even recorded and mixed the album analogically with 80s equipment in order to re-create the same atmosphere of the classic releases! So, if you're bored by all the faceless bands that are popping up around the world each day and that only jump on the next bandwagon in order to cash in on a current trend within brutal music, give these guys a listen. You might be positively surprised. And if they should furthermore manage to get rid off those wellknown riffs next time, they will also completely impress me as well. Contact: Demise Records, P.O.
