BARBATOS
BARBATOS
Let's Fucking Die!
(Displeased Records)
40:54min

Fourth full-length (without counting a lot of EPs and a live album) of this bunch, formed by members of ABIGAIL (Japan). They also had people from so different outfits such as RITUAL CARNAGE, ARES KINGDOM, TOXIC HOLOCAUST on the studio side, or MALICIOUS SECRETS, DEATHSPELL OMEGA or INFERNAL (Columbia) on the live one in their ranks already. Most of them don't share much similarities with any of them, except ABIGAIL and TOXIC HOLOCAUST. BARBATOS are playing pure Thrash Metal with a big Punk rocking (music and attitude) side, so the difference is not that big with their other band (ABIGAIL). It's still thrashing madness, although their main influence here is without any doubt coming from MOTÖRHEAD and these primordial Thrash Metal bands who were so influenced by Punk music. The lyrics are not less barbaric here, dealing with war ('Satanik Butcher! Apocalyptic War!'), sex ('Baby I'm Your Man', or just take a look at the cover) and alcohol ('Beer Is My Leader'), which is simply perfect for this music I think. Anyway, I must admit I found this album a bit boring towards the end, as the songs are quite simple and repeatitive. I prefer ABIGAIL, as they sound as hateful as them, but not so punkish and primitive. Let's say their songs are better constructed, not so boring. But for anyone searching for some old Thrash Metal vibes and for a crazy disco destroying saturday night, this is just perfect for you. www.displeasedrecords.com
