BARK
BARK
Like Humans Do
(Sound Of The Hound Records)
36:27min

Whether we like them or not, genre tags are somehow important. No matter how helpful they can be, they can also be detrimental. BARK is a Belgian outfit playing kinda groovy Death'n'Roll and to be honest their record is exchangeable like my underwear. Well, the songs are pretty standard and predictable in structure, and the riffs stick mainly to alternating between Rock tinged Swe-Death-Core tremolo-based standards, or groovy midpaced chuggery, both with the end goal of being catchy. Like all bands, BARK have their influences. The difference being that the band wears their influences like a hooded cape. BARK combines older ENTOMBED and PRO-PAIN frontal assaults with the melodic inklings of GOREFEST. The guitar / bass combination is on par with bands like SEPULTURA and CRACK UP. The foot-stomper 'Hollow Words' provides the only passable spin, invoking SEPULTURA with deliberate pacing and a decent riff. Anyway, the whole album is not my cup of tea.
