Battlechants
(self-financed)
28:09min

Honestly I have simply overseen most Irish bands, but since I know pagan Black gods PRIMORDIAL my interest in the Irish underground grows and BELINUS are the best example that this scene definitely deserves more attention. "Battlechants", their self-financed CD debut demo, features five folk-influenced Black Metal songs from the Celtic heart (including one instrumental), which musically sound like recent PRIMORDIAL, but with less clean vocal parts and a more raw feeling. Raspy Black Metal vocals create an intense and emotional atmosphere, which the music directs with aggressive up-tempo as well as slower melancholic parts. Also some acoustic guitar interruptions appear on "Battlechants" and ensure, that it does not get boring. The CD layout is ok, the professional printed inlay contains thanks list, band photo and recording information, but no lyrics. Fans of PRIMORDIAL or original Black Metal, that is not just another DARKTHRONE or MARDUK copy, should give BELINUS celtic war hymns a chance and I promise you will discover a talented newcomer. Send 8 Euro (R.O.I.), 9 Euro (UK & Europe), 10 Euro (R.O.W.) to one of the following addresses: Ro Hu Gar Darn, The Absu, 46 Glenheights Road, Ballyvolane, Cork, Ireland or G.
