CALLENISH CIRCLE
CALLENISH CIRCLE
Flesh-Power-Dominion
(Metal Blade Records)
52:25min

Congratulations! Not only did CALLENISH CIRCLE sign a world wide record deal with Metal Blade Records, they also delivered their best album ever. Record number three shows the band in a shining bright light. Still they play Swedeathrash and the first thing that comes to my mind is IN FLAMES. CALLENISH CIRCLE are very melodic as well. Yet, their approach differs quite a bit as there are no obvious MAIDENesque melodies. Instead, the band comes up with rather fragile parts in contrast to the energetic and brutal main themes. Check out song number 8 'They Have Chosen'. Great dynamics! The band is far from copying a trendy Metal style as their song structures are unique indeed without lacking a certain catchiness. Above all there is Patrick's strong, aggressive voice that never seems to get stuck in monotony. My favourite Dutch sickos are still GOD DETHRONED but with their new album CALLENISH CIRCLE not only entered the premier Dutch Metal League but are now in competition with the world's finest in brutality and they're future is looking bright indeed!
