CAPHARNAUM
CAPHARNAUM
Fractured
(Earache Records)
29:36min

CAPHARNAUM hail from Florida and consist of members of MONSTROSITY, MARTYR and TRIVIUM. Now guess what kind of music they play? Exactly! Polka-Techno with Finnish lyrics! Well, sorry for this bad joke, of course they play technical Death Metal with a certain Thrash Metal feeling. On eight songs they unleash a whirlwind of complex riffs and drumming embedded in an excellent production. Fans of DEATH and late PESTILENCE will surely like them, although CAPHARNAUM still have some way to go until they can keep up with the masters. The quality of CAPHARNAUM is that their sophisticated musicianship never gets out of control and the songs never become confusing. Additionally, the many subleties of rhythm and guitarwork keep this album interesting for a long time. The only really bad thing is that "Fractured" is insolently short! Only half an hour is definitely not enough for an excellent record like this. I hope CAPHARNAUM's next output will be much longer, as I have absolutely no doubts that the musical quality will be as exquisite as on this one.
