CARNAL DECAY

CARNAL DECAY
Chopping Off The Head
(Fastbeast Entertainment)
29:53min

Disappointed by the last ABORTED album? Waiting for the next CANNIBAL CORPSE output? Still impressed by the last MONSTROSITY release? Well, then you should definitely take a listen to CARNAL DECAY. Already the second full-length by this Swiss Death Metal outfit and a quite impressive one. Their debut "Carnal Pleasures" (released in 2006) is unknown to me, but judging from other reviews it must already have been a good one and "Chopping Off The Head" is a worthy successor. Tending more to the American Death Metal style the decent listener will discover nine songs, which benefit from two elements. The pure, brutal energy and the outstanding technical abilities of the musicians (together with the top-notch production). The only fact which differs from the traditional way of brutal Death Metal is the comic-like artwork (supposed to be "Sin City"-style, to whom ever that may ring a bell) and honestly, I do not have any opinion about that, so I do not like or dislike this artwork. And even if you are old school to the core and get freaky about comic-artworks, always have in mind that it is in no way affecting the music. Enough written, do not hesitate, go and get one of the best Death Metal albums the underground has to offer this year! www.myspace.com/swissdeathmetal
