CELEBRATUM
CELEBRATUM
Instinct
(Metal Age Productions)
57:29min

This is the second full-length album of the Norwegian Black Metal band CELEBRATUM. They perform a rather modern way of Black Metal, like DARK FUNERAL or SETHERIAL. Fast and aggressive, based on high-speed drumming and up-tempo riffing with screaming vocals. The guitar work is sometimes performed in a melodic way that reminds me of IN FLAMES or even some "traditional" Heavy Metal bands. Some songs got a long running time (about seven minutes), but that is no disadvantage, CELEBRATUM manage to maintain tightness. One thing that annoys me is the way the vocals are performed. Maybe it should sound more evil or aggressive or whatever, but I dislike this harmonizer distortion. For me shrieky vocals are in general fitting to Black Metal, but not this computer "voice". It really spoils the listening pleasure. And due to the fact that the music is nothing spectacular, well done though, but heard so often played by so many bands (like the above mentioned) I advise only people who are collecting every Black Metal release or can not wait until the next DARK FUNERAL album to check out CELEBRATUM. Last info: CD contains two video tracks, one live clip and one more or less well done film-clip. www.celebratum.net Label contact: www.metalage.sk
