COFFIN TEXTS
The Tomb Of Infinite Ritual
(Dark Descent Records)
37:44min

"Gods Of Creation, Death & Afterlife", COFFIN TEXTS' killer debut album, was already recorded in 1995 and released five years later in 2000. Twelve fuckin' years ago... Unbelievable how time flies... In 2002 they released a promising four track promo CD but after that COFFIN TEXTS only participated in a couple of tribute albums. So it really seemed that they had chosen the same releasing tactics such as the other great L.A. based masters of unholy Death Metal SADISTIC INTENT. But fortunately COFFIN TEXTS is back with another lesson of Death Metal supremacy. "The Tomb Of Infinite Ritual" is a monument of relentless and sophisticated Death Metal art. The lyrical concept deals with Egyptian mythology but different to NILE they don't use that as a musical influence. Their compositions are nothing but purest Death Metal. This is exactly how true dark and infernal Death Metal should be played. COFFIN TEXTS' sophomore album has a fine balance of brutality, atmosphere, high speed and crushing mid paced parts. Everything is well played and the production sounds awesome, very dynamic, raw and thunderous. I also have to mention the vocal performance; Bobby's voice is brilliant for this kind of music and fits perfectly to the crushing compositions. I can truly recommend this album (and of course the debut, too) to all fans of early MORBID ANGEL and especially SADISTIC INTENT. COFFIN TEXTS has a very similar style and without any doubt both bands share the same musical visions. Definitely "The Tomb Of Infinite Ritual" is among the highlights and best releases in 2012 and I'm sure we will talk about this album as a classic in a few years. So stop reading now, get yourself a copy of this masterpiece and listen to it. Then listen to it again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again... www.myspace.com/coffintexts, www.facebook.com/coffintexts, www.darkdescentrecords.com
