Witness Of Decay
(self-financed)

It's not every day that I can put a new pin on my (invisible) world map of Metal. Today's a day like this. CONCEIVED BY HATE put El Salvador on my map with their self-financed debut EP "Witness Of Decay". Hailing from the nation's capital San Salvador, this six-piece released a demo in 2005 before they released this EP four years later. Musically, "Witness Of Decay" can hardly be pigeon holed, since these four tracks offer a great variety. The classy opener 'Vengeance Is The Law' keeps the promise the title gives. Thrash Metal riffs meet extremely coughing vocals and blackened guitars in the middle part. Due to this variety, the songs keeps the listener in suspense. After this great start, the title track turns out to be a real smash! 'Witness Of Decay' is an extremely variable track with brutal riffing in a way that reminds of bands like SOLSTICE (US) or DEMOLITION HAMMER, spiced with Gothenburg inspired harmonies and a few more modern sounding moments - very well done! It really is a pity that the other two tracks fail to keep this high level by far. 'Believe' sets in guided by keyboards in the intro riffing, helping to create a blackened atmosphere. But sadly the song flattens afterwards and becomes a little boring and uninspired like IN FLAMES on valium. The closing 'Solitude Fills The Space' is a way too long instrumental, based on acoustic guitars - not thrilling at all. So in conclusion we have two classy songs in opposition to two bores... But 'Vengeance Is The Law' and the title track are very promising and they alone are worth checking "Witness Of Decay" out on: www.conceivedbyhate.com, www.facebook.com/conceivedbyhate
