CONTEMPT
CONTEMPT
When Angels Begin To Cry
(Empire Records)
43:51min

After their very well received debut "The Secret Around Us", which is said of having sold about 5.000 copies in Europe alone, Slovakia's CONTEMPT finally return to the scene with their follow-up full length "When Angels Begin To Cry". And I gotta admit that (despite the usual facts of a lot of musical deja vus) it turned out to be another very well executed brutal Death Metal assault. Professionally produced and blessed with an excellent and very well fitting artwork (courtesy of Jacek Wisniewski, who already worked for VADER, MALEVOLENT CREATION etc.) this East European Death machine constantly delivers totally crushing and overall always very brutal material! To me there's no real standout track on this album worth to be highlighted here, but at the same time no filler material either. The whole record's simply got a very well flow and showcases the big potential of this incredible tight fourpiece. You can't exactly compare them to one single band in particular, but it's still pretty obvious that they mainly must be influenced by several established names of the American scene. The deep grunted vocals of frontman Lubo and their mostly very fast, yet quite interesting composed songs can easily match with their American counterparts and in particular know to impress in the twin-guitar department (there's some incredible stuff to be discovered within the twelve featured cuts). So, lovers of uncompromising, yet technically very exciting, energetic and brutal Death Metal should definitely make sure to check these guys out. Label contact: www.empire-records.com.pl
