A bit muffled in sound and overly cautious in style, but that's what oftentimes makes demos charming. And, for a first recording, one would be hard pressed not to offer some congratulations even if this band is far from the big time. The riffs and drum beats are good enough, but there's not enough, dare I say, "life", to them. This is partly due to the quality of the recording and the songs themselves, which are passably good, but not quite there yet. By far, the best song is track 3, 'Echoes Of Death'. Once this song plays, it's easier to see why this band didn't get the boot immediately. There's clearly a lot of energy at work, almost like MASSACRE in parts. The way the first few bars jumps and runs is quite reminiscent of Kam Lee's psychotic writing style. Perhaps forgoing this demo won't leave you scolding yourself later on but, provided there is a second demo, be sure to pay closer attention, for this band can only improve - not get worse. www.myspace.com/corpsegardencr
