CREPUSCULUM
CREPUSCULUM
Illuminatus
(Odium Records)
38:54min

A Black Metal band from Poland on the label Odium Records, formed back in 2003, playing a style pretty close to the one of the Death / Black Metal bands from Sweden in the 90s. There is of course a good influence coming from early MAYHEM and early EMPEROR, and there is a lot of old school Thrash hidden within I can call CELTIC FROST as the image that is conjured. It reminds me more than often of Sweden’s DAWN's first album. There is a strong Death Metal sound here too. But, alas, as most Europeans like to perform CREPUSCULUM does their composition with good class and challenges the listener to a realm of darkness and aggression, where melody is used in the right quantity, and they even dare to use some chant-like chorus, similar to something ROTTING CHRIST uses on their last albums, as it can be heard in the song 'Via Sinistra'. Although most is played at high speed, the band uses a bit of slower moments to keep the momentum in place and that also adds a bit of variety. They even reminded me to THE CHASM in a couple of parts, like in the song 'Become Their Tomb'. Quite interesting and well produced, I am expecting more form this diabolic duo. www.crepusculum.glt.pl, www.facebook.com/pages/crepusculum/153494948057445, www.odiumrex.com
