CRYSTALIUM
CRYSTALIUM

When I look at the whole artwork of this CD, and I read the title of the songs (all written in French), I got the displeasing feeling these dudes are fascinated by a foul political symbolism. You can make an idea by yourselves just by visiting the CRYSTALIUM website (www.crystalium.tk) and by examining the symbolism used by this band from the South East of France. Personally, I can't endorse such an attitude. I loathe this kind of perverted romanticism based on self appraisal and fascination for certain symbols of the past. The overall look of this album (their third by the way) speaks by itself, complete with "rough" musicians in uniform, black and white pictures inducing a sort of subliminal message directed to our inner conscience evoking, without actually depicting, images of the infamous part of European history between 1918 and 1945. I would like to state here that I am a Metal freak for 25 years by now, and that heavy music is a kind of religion to me. This is precisely why I can't stand this kind of band and record. Metal music deserves better in my opinion, and deserves above all respect. So CRYSTALIUM can pack back their silly "art" and keep it for the ten followers they might have. Their music is a kind of sub-standard "War" Black Metal (how surprising...) upon which pretentious bad poetry based on misunderstood Nietzschean themes is loosely placated. I can guarantee you a serious headache trying to listen to this in its entirety (what I did). A total waste of time... One last thing before I close this subject for good (for note that I am not available to discuss this matter on the VFTDS website, nor anywhere else): the motto of the band is "CRYSTALIUM only exist for their enemies"; sorry to disappoint you guys, I am not your friend, yet you don't exist in my world. Enough said.
