The underground is full of Black Metal, I tell ya! Nearly every day, there's a new band to come from out of the black nowhere, it seems. I think it must already be hard work for Black Metal enthusiasts to keep track of all those bands. For an only part-time Black Metal listener like me, it is either hard not to get completely lost in the list of names as it is to find the gems. Why do I tell you this whinery crap? Just because I have one of those countless new Black Metal bands here. DAWN OF A DARK AGE are from Italy and basically, they are another one man band. The main man, responsible for all music here, is a guy called Eurynomos (hence the spelling!), and he's supported by vocalist Buran, a.k.a. Lord Of War from ATHANOR and other bands. To be honest, this is the most interesting to tell about “The Six Elements, Vol.1 Earth”. Musically, this album is completely redundant, even though DAWN OF A DARK AGE are not the stereotypical Black Metal band next door. Eurynomos tries to break with patterns, using keyboards, some acoustic guitars and even a goddamn saxophone. But trying ain't enough, since the result is pretty wishy washy, boring old farted stuff that may be interesting for some, but completely unimportant for most, including myself. Sometimes it even gets really annoying, like in the final part of 'Raped Heart', where the shitty dissonant saxophone takes my last nerve. Sorry, “The Six Elements, Vol.1 Earth” is not exactly brilliant, neither the answer to everything. Maybe Volume 2 will be more interesting, but there's way to go.
