"At The Helm Of The Abyss" seems to be the first official release of this Canadian Black Metal outfit. One might think it is a bit early to start up with an album and haven't done some demos first, but DEAD OF WINTER proof that this is not necessary in their case at all, because those guys know how to handle their instruments. Hell yezzz, this is a great album, it is Black fucking Metal how it was meant to be played: uncompromising, unholy, possessed and brutal. Musically always on top-speed, primitive and brutal riffing plus demonically obsessed vocals makes "At The Helm Of The Abyss" an outstanding album which shows that real, brutal old school Black Metal is still alive.
