DEATH ATTACK
Death Attack
(I Hate Records)
8:20min

Fans of blackened, harsh old school Thrash Metal in general and PROTECTOR fans in particular should pay attention here! This amazing little piece of plastic is not only visually a real gem (it comes as a picture disc with the bloody red logo on one side and a tribute to Michael Hasse picture on the flipside, yet packaged in a regular 7" sleeve that features several old pictures and a history written by Martin Missy), also the music of this rather short-lived German Thrash Metal horde is quite impressive! The two songs 'Death Attack' and 'Warriors Of Death' (+ short intro) easily could've gained this fourpiece a solid position back in the 80s among the forerunners of the Teutonic Thrash movement (SODOM, KREATOR and DESTRUCTION), if they wouldn't have called the quits after only one year of existence again already. Formed in the autumn of 1985 by guitarist André 'Ace' Borawski (who used to play bass in STEELTOWER, a band that later became HEAVEN'S GATE), singer Michael Hasse (who went on with PROTECTOR afterwards), drummer Peter Schulz and bass player Peter Laske (both continued on in a Speed Metal act called INZEST) these guys unfortunately only managed to record two songs at their rehearsal place, and yeah, you guessed right - they are the ones we're dealing with here. But even though it was only a rehearsal recording, the overall quality turned out pretty satisfying (if you take into consideration that Magnus Devo Anderson remastered them for this release) and showcased a band that was full of aggression and already offered a lot of potential. It may sound a bit out of place here, but to me these two tracks are way more impressive than anything that the more known German bands such as IRON ANGEL or DARKNESS have come up with throughout their entire career! It's relentless, uncompromising Thrash of the purest form, destined to turn old school Metalheads into DEATH ATTACK addicts very easily. It's a real pity that there wasn't more to come... But on the other hand, it's pretty easy for you now to complete your DEATH ATTACK collection ;-) All you have to do is contact I Hate Records right away in order to get yourself a copy out of the 500 limited copies that got pressed. It is definitely worth the effort, believe me! www.ihate.se
