DEATH RIDES A HORSE
DEATH RIDES A HORSE
Tree Of Woe

The little info I had on this band talks about a Stoner / Doom Metal band. Those words immediately direct me to bands playing slow Rock and Roll with a subtle Heavy Metal sound and a bluesy touch with a hippie approach. But in this case, I would suggest to keep those really unnecessary labels away… it is useless… this is really powerful and Heavy Metal which evokes obscure Rock and Roll…but done with such a class and great sound that it is possible to start humming one or two songs over and over again… like the title song which has a mammoth main riff that has been haunting my dreams since the very first moment I heared it… add to that a very good vocal delivery by a girl, Ida, who also plays bass… and let me tell you that even if the girl does not possess the most magnificent voice I have heard in Metal (that goes to my all-time star Federica “Sister” De Boni from the mighty WHITE SKULL) Ida has such a charming voice that even if it feels that she could be stronger, it adds personality to the band. Also a big plus is the great old school sounding production… nothing of that over-polished nonsense modern productions, this sounds rude, raw and direct. I was also surprised to find out that this is actually a compilation of two EPs from the band, so now, I am more than anxiously waiting for the full length. This, ladies and gentlemen is the essence of Heavy Metal in its primordial form. Simple, yet effective riffs. Do not add any useless labels to the music this Danish band does… just call it Heavy Metal… GREAT Heavy Metal. www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=388431499637, www.inferno-records.net
