Chronicles Of The Apocalypse
(Sliptrick Records)

The Italian five piece DEGENERGATE already exists since the year 2002, yet their discography is very overseeable. Up to now, they only released the promo EP “The End Has Just Begun" independently in 2005. But after nearly a dozen years of existence, the Romans finally have their first full length out. It's called “Chronicles Of The Apocalypse” and should be a feast for all those of you dig the really extreme. Yes, DEGENERHATE play Grindcore. But not a stupid kind of Grindcore that's just based on hyper-speed like all that Porngrind rubbish. Bands like DISRUPT, BLOOD or INSECT WARFARE are as much the musical godfathers of DEGENERHATE as grandmasters like NAPALM DEATH or CARCASS. So we find a bunch of blastbeat attacks like 'Bushit', 'Earth First' or 'War Inside My Head' opening up the album, none of them longer than 55 seconds. But DEGENERHATE know that some diversified songs help any Grind album. And thus there are songs like the slow, grooving and even melodic 'Another You Another Me' or the slightly Industrial styled 'Song Of Hate And Destruction'. Two well done and perfectly fitting cover tunes (BLOODs 'Cannibal Ritual' and 'Running Through The Blood', originally by FEAR OF GOD) prove the musical skills of the band and with 'Fur Is Dead', 'Under The Same Sky' and 'Last Fight' we find brutally crushing slow grinders DISRUPT would have been proud of. With 'New World Disorder' we also find a diversified and comparatively progressive song that's the highlight of a really good album. Grinders will welcome “Chronicles Of The Apocalypse” maybe not as the holy grail, but as a damn fine album. They should immediately check:, or visit the label:
