DELIRIUM TREMENS
DELIRIUM TREMENS
Read My Fist
(Iron Shield Records)
41:32min

I still can remember the second album "Thrashing Warthogs" by these Upper Franconian Thrashers which was releasesd in 2004 by Merciless Records and got excellent reviews around the globe. Unfortunately I lost them from my radar even though the outfit from Bamberg added an EP to their discography, entitled "Drink, Kill, Fuck, Die - The Rock'n'Roll" in 2006. One reason might be that it became quite silent about them and I assumed the quintet had called it quits. But there's life in the old dog yet. This long running squad (founded back in 1996) surprisingly comes up with a new eleven tracker called "Read My Fist" and is determined to continue with their dirty deeds. And what the heck! DELIRIUM TREMENS are back with a vengeance and you can hear this right from the start of the new disc. It kicks off with 'Rough Ride', a relentless fast paced Thrasher spiced with the typical touch of Rock'n'Roll the band is known for. The five piece doesn't give in after the first track and marches on to attack and kill with full force. The title track with neckbreaking double bass attacks is in the same vein as the opener and 'We'll Be Drunk Forever' would do quite well on every TANKARD album. Killer riffing and chorus, a real hymn destined to bang till death. It seems that this thrashing commando worked their ass off as the material they gathered on this album is absolut top notch. No fillers, only killers like 'Irön Gang', 'Thrash And Be Trashed' or 'Get Fucked' (played at murderous speed) impressively prove. This album is really a lethal slap in your face and the album title couldn't be chosen better. The eleven tracks (incl. the ass kicking WENDY O. WILLIAMS cover 'Hoy Hey, Live To Rock') have a massive and powerful sound which should be able to split every skull. Absolute huge! But it's no big surprise as the band was able to hire Patrick W. Engel to be in charge of the production. Like I said it before the result is outstanding. I can highly recommend this album to every serious Thrasher out there. One of the best, freshest and ass kicking long players in the genre lately. Fuck trends and get thrashed by these bastards!
