DEVASTATION
DEVASTATION
Dispensable Bloodshed
(Vic Records)
61:36min

Today we are talking about a really classic Death / Thrash Metal band called DEVASTATION from Chicago, which was formed back in 1986 (please do not confuse the band with the other three versions from Corpus Christi, New York or Dallas). DEVASTATION had an influence on numerous extreme Metal bands including NIHILIST, AT THE GATES, CARNAGE, DARKTHRONE and MERCILESS since several members of the mentioned bands referred to them in their greetings lists. The band never signed a proper deal and recorded only a bunch of demos and as far as I understand an unreleased 7 song EP. This present compilation album is now the third of its kind and it raises the question of whether you really need this album or not. In case you already own the versions published in 2008 (Marquee Records) and 2014 (Buried By Time And Dust Records) you can confidently save your money. DEVASTATION's music is solid Death / Thrash Metal but unspectacular when you ask me. Well, if this third compilation album is worth the purchase is really up to you, since it offers nothing new. Only for fans which really dig the old underground recordings! www.facebook.com/devastationchicago, www.vicrecords.com
