DOWN
IV Part 1 - The Purple EP
(Roadrunner Records)
33:21min

Before some of you might start bitchin' around about featuring a band like DOWN in Voices From The Darkside, just shut up and listen. Firstly, forget about marketing terms like "all-star band“ or "supergroup“. Such misleading labeling is totally unnecessary in the case of a band like DOWN. It's only detracting from the music. Who really cares about more or less famous band members, their former or current bands and record sales figures. It should always be the music first, what counts. It isn't too difficult to let the music do the talking, right? Secondly, the music of DOWN is dark, heavy, doomy and edgy. Commercial music is something different. If you like a good and healthy mixture of bands like BLACK SABBATH, ST.VITUS, CATHEDRAL, WITCHFINDER GENERAL, ELECTRIC WIZARD, VENOM, CELTIC FROST and THIN LIZZY, you will adore DOWN's music. On top of fit you will get a big portion of Southern charm, spirit and hospitality for free. Don't get me wrong. I don't want to raise some rebel flags now. There is just this Southern (music-) vibe shining through the six brilliant songs. Which is embracing this dark music brew tenderly. DOWN's "IV Part 1 - The Purple EP“ is just the first out of four EPs, which will be released during the next months separately. All these works will have a different musical direction. From a creative point of view, this release tactic is highly interesting. DOWN fans should start saving some cash now. Because like me, there are enough people out there, who want to have them all then. With a running time of 33:21 minutes, this release is on a good SLAYER "Reign In Blood“ level. So no need to complain here. If you are a fan of classic Hard Rock / Heavy Metal sounds, this release is a reasonable purchase. For DOWN die-hard fans, this on is again a must have. This work is timeless! www.down-nola.com, www.facebook.com/down
