ELENIUM
ELENIUM
For Giving, For Getting
(Rage Of Achilles Records)
41:02min

Uuuh, this one gives me a hard time. On their debut album Finnish ELENIUM deliver very melodic Death Metal with complex song structures, some relaxed moments and variable vocals, so far so good, BUT they use keyboards in a disgustingly obtrusive way. Almost every approach of entrainment is suffocated by "bubblegum" keyboards. I wouldn't say that this release is complete crap but if you prefer the harder and less commercial side of Metal this record is a waste of time. Thinking about the punning title, I'm not sure whether I should forgive the keyboard or forget this album. Band website with some song-excerpts: www.eleniumband.com.
