HAEMORRHAGE / IMPALED
HAEMORRHAGE / IMPALED
Dementia Rex
(Razorback Recordings)
36:29min

Fucking cool split CD by the CARCASS-worshippers HAEMORRHAGE (Spain) and IMPALED from the US. "Dementia Rex" is some sort of concept story by Ross Sewage of IMPALED about the king of lunatics and both bands orientate lyrically on his twisted tale. Of course musically the two acts do their own thing. IMPALED come up with four new tunes that continue the quality one knows from "Mondo Medicale" with ease and also did a great cover of REPULSION's 'Helga Lost Her Head'. Especially the straight 'Deranged' and 'Bedlam' are excellent examples of IMPALED's fabulous musicianship, skilful songwriting and morbid drive. Those surgeons of Death Metal know how to create memorable, technical advanced tunes that mix the lyrical topics and humour of early CARCASS with the musical delicatesses the British gods delivered with "Necroticism" and "Heartwork". Their label (I think it is Necropolis Records / Century Media) should finally manage to get them over the ocean to tour Europe, it's about fucking time!!! Although HAEMORRHAGE do not have the technical niveau of IMPALED nor the clean sound they convince by being sick, hellish aggressive and a bit more raw than their partners in crime. The Spanish psychopaths put together three new tunes for this split and did a damn good cover of GRAVE's 'Deformed'. HAEMORRHAGE's own stuff kicks ass and if compared with IMPALED contains a few more Grind elements. To sum it up, "Dementia Rex" is one of the best split CD's I've ever heard and I think people who enjoy CARCASS or the participating bands will be extremely satisfied with this high quality release. Visit www.razorbackrecords.com for MP3's and information on the bands. Since the label has a lot more Gore / Grind / Death highlights to offer, have a look at their other bands, too. You won't regret it!
