HARM`S WAY
HARM`S WAY
Harm's Way
(Iron Fist Productions)

Though this Swedish band plays a style rather seldomly featured on the Voices website - namely heavy Doom / Stoner - HARM'S WAY (formerly known as TERRA FIRMA) are too good to be shunned just because of the typical old school intolerance. From the psychedelic, predominantely red-coloured cover art to the powerful, warm sound the quartet has everything good Doom / Stoner needs and keeping in mind that the three songs featured here are only the band's debut demo recorded in 2004 this release is even more remarkable. Of course, the experience collected during almost an decade under the moniker TERRA FIRMA, who released numerous demos and two full-lengths, is responsible for that, these guys simply aren't newcomers anymore! Bands like KYUSS, DOZER, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS come into mind when I listen to this MLP, but also classic Metal traditions surface during the MAIDEN - like twin guitar passage in 'Went Wrong' or the up-tempo part of 'High Becomes Low'. Vocalist Dim has an enjoyable, variable, clean voice and performs with a lot of feeling and supports the groove and mood created by the music. The MLP is certainly not the reinvention of the genre but it's well done, excellently produced and exercised with talent and skill, so if you're into Doomrock, Stoner, don't miss this nice little vinyl! The label's website can be found here: http://zwartroest.nl/ironfist/ or http://www.ironfistrec.cjb.net/. The band can be contacted via the following email address: fastfreddie@chello.se
