HATERIAL
HATERIAL
Twisted Verses
(WormHoleDeath Records)
42:57min

This 5-piece band called HATERIAL from the northern part of Finland, Oulu, was formed just in 2010 - and soon after HATERIAL had recorded their 5-track promotional demo in July 2010, the band got snapped by an Italian label, Worm Hole Death Records; a record label, publishing and film production company that was started around in 2009. HATERIAL's 12-track debut album "Twisted Verses" introduces us a hybrid of modern sounding Thrash Metal that has also got some tiny spices from the Gothenburg melo-Death Metal scene as well as relentless, in-yer-face type of Hardcore - which at least in my books of interest, do work pretty darn immensely well as a decent wholeness. There's a nice, balanced harmony between HATERIAL's very angst and hatred-oozing, vicious thrashing parts - as well as some a bit more melodic parts, in which the guys have evidently kept at least their left ear directed to Finland's western neighbor country, Sweden's direction, resulting in a package of strong, vibrant and catchy songs that have this tendency to stand out on their own. Indeed. Spinning this opus one round after another, gives us a reason to believe such bands as SEPULTURA, TESTAMENT, SLAYER, IN FLAMES, etc. - added with a bunch of some violent sounding and sheer attitude radiating Finnish Hardcore and more Punk-ish acts, are no strangers to the blokes in HATERIAL. These fellows have obviously done their certain home lessons well - by adopting some inspirations and influences from here and there whenever it has felt necessary, primarily for the benefit of HATERIAL so to speak. There's a fair load of elements within the sound of HATERIAL that appeals to listeners somewhat instantly. The energy, the feeling and vibe and overall the way how these 5 fellows have managed to mix some of their favorite kinds of musical styles in HATERIAL, could all be considered as a pretty impressive front page for the opening story of the band. HATERIAL have got a relatively fresh touch to their stuff - and therefore it's even bloody easy to like them. Now having said that what else there's left expect to recommend you to check them out, too. More about HATERIAL at: www.myspace.com/haterial, www.wormholedeath.com
