HEIMDALLS WACHT
HEIMDALLS WACHT
Geisterseher

HEIMDALLS WACHT is a Pagan Black Metal horde from Germany, active since 2004 already and with “Geisterseher” they are ready to release their seventh album, this time via Trollzorn Records. What is to expect from the seventh album of a band with seven extra long tracks? The opener ‘Spökenkieker’ delivers some normal solid melodic Black Metal with a melodic lead guitar and good drum-work and the genre typical caws and screams. Already some Pagan or Viking influences show up in the guitar work and all in all this is solid average Black Metal work with a solid and melodic ending. ‘Wir Sind Die Wächter’ shows some really good guitar work again and a good taste for a proper lead melody. Also the choral chants appearing fit quite well into the whole picture and again the good drumming must be mentioned. ‘Scyomantia’ again is also not a bad track and the melodic choral voices also really work out well here. The production is fine and fits to the material. Without knowing their older material it seems, this time they have focused some more on songwriting and production and deliver solid but not outstanding melodic Black Metal or whatever you want it call it. Only the level of the desperate screams could be reduced as it does not always fit to the material as we do not talk about Suicidal Black Metal here. But as far as I learned their vocalist has left finally and has already been replaced. Fans of solid underground Black Metal should give the guys a chance as the material is not bad at all.
