HELLCANNON
HELLCANNON
Soothsayer
(Vile Records)
24:45min

HELLCANNON from Buffalo, New York, plays brutal, filthy sounding and strongly old school-tinged Thrash Metal that neither asks much excuses nor makes apologies. HELLCANNON released an 8-track debut full-length studio album, titled "Infected With Violence" back in 2010 (which truly wiped the floor with many other Thrash Metal releases that were also released at that time) - and now in 2013, they have a brand-new 5-track EP out, titled "Soothsayer". This EP was almost recently put out by a new label called Vile Records that is run by ex - MALEVOLENT CREATION and ex - HELLWITCH guitarist Jim Nickles - and this is the very first outing on his label, and a really fuckin' good one, I even must openly admit that. HELLCANNON simply oozes filthy, mean and ominous energy from every hole on their "Soothsayer" EP, like challenging everyone for an ultimate fist fight with them, and knowing deep down in their minds they will leave a battle arena behind them as true winners - like living fully for a slogan: "You just don't dare to fuck with us... fuckin' wimps, posers and sissies!!!" I mean, THAT harsh, heavy and heterosexual impression these 4 lads are able to give out from themselves just by playing straightforward and darn well executed, lead-heavy Thrash Metal on the "Soothsayer" EP. Admittedly some of their riffs do have a slight twist from Death Metal's side (performed the same way like MALEVOLENT CREATION combined Thrash and Death Metal on their debut album, "The Ten Commandments"), so hence I don't wonder a bit why the band ended up doing a cover version for DEATH's song 'Pull The Plug' for this EP (which sounds pretty okay-ish but that's about it). It's really the band's own songs when they start ruling the ruins immensely, as the last two songs 'Scourge And Devour' and 'Soothsayer' on the EP especially, prove it such a beautifully brutal and malicious way: shit man, HELLCANNON eats and shits infernal steroids!! ... AND the winner is? Well, try to guess again... HELLCANNON can be found at: www.facebook.com/hellcannonmetal, label: www.vilerecords.com
