HIRAX
HIRAX
Immortal Legacy
(Steamhammer Records / SPV)
38:12min

Californian Thrashers HIRAX have gone a long way since the band's debut album "Raging Violence", released on Metal Blade Records in 1984. HIRAX have always been an important link of the worldwide Thrash Metal scene but for some reason or the other, somehow they have always been left under the big shadows of many other Thrash Metal combos - or at least so it seems to me anyway. But HIRAX's sort of 'never give up and kick them straight to the balls' type of attitude, has brought the band very far: "Immortal Legacy" is their 5th full-length studio album within 29 years - and in all honest's sake it must be confessed that this Californian Thrash squad has got better and better over the years, from one album to the other. This latest 12-track effort is purely 100% bullet-proof HIRAX from start to finish: very riff orientated, mercilessly attacking, wonderfully old school and thrashing people's heads off the shoulders like they would have just started the band at their twenties. Indeed, what makes HIRAX such an entertaining yet lovely act, is their determination to concentrate on doing those things where they honestly know they are darn killer at - and that's simply keeping their old school Thrash delivery as real as truthful as possible. "Immortal Legacy" is also HIRAX's most diverse sounding album thus far: after a couple of hard punches in your face, they may take a few steps backwards, but only for a short moment 'til they feel like hitting your ugly face again. And this concept is repeated over and over and over again on "Immortal Legacy". This album is 100% quality HIRAX Thrash, delivered with a true attitude and willingness to show the band's very roots. HIRAX just never let us down - and I myself am happy the year 2014 has already brought us such a top-notch Thrash Metal release. Thank you HIRAX. You do know you rule, don't you?
