K-ØS

K-ØS
Planeta Violento
(Maldito Records)
50:38min

Metal from the land of the old and new Euro-champions is still more or less exotic in the scene. Maybe that is due to the fact, that most bands from Spain sing in their native tongue, which still is quite unusual in Metal. Therefore it is not much of a surprise that only few bands from the Iberian Peninsula are known better to the outside world, like TIERRA SANTA or BARON ROJO in the 80s. K-ØS want to change this fact with their second output "Planeta Violenta". And what are these guys doing to become more known? They thrash... Unfortunately they thrash neither fast nor hard... We have nine songs (plus one intro) here, which feature midtempo Thrash reminding me a little bit of 90s Thrashers CHANNEL ZERO. But what is lacking here are important things: power, impact and variability. And some more catchy or surprising melodies would have been nice, too. All ends up in a wishy washy mush of songs without any hooks and recognition value. Even though I'd like to - I'm sorry to say I can't find much good on this album. I tried, really... On their homepage, these guys declare 'El retorno del radikal Metal' ('The return of radical Metal' for us anglophile people), but the way will be long and hard for them. To prove me wrong (or right), you can download the album for free at http://wtrns.fr/AooAdULv3os_Xog. To purchase "Planeta Violento", try www.metalk-os.com (in Spanish) or www.malditorecords.net.
