KALOPSIA
KALOPSIA
Angelplague
(Horror Pain Gore Death Productions)
35:35min

KALOPSIA is a four members Death Metal entity coming from New Brunswick, United States. "Angelplague" is their third full-length and it contains 8 tracks of an average and boring contemporary Death Metal. Here you can find really good musicians and a good production in general (sometimes too good for my taste). Every instrument is audible, but the drums here are too loud and sometimes it sounds like a machine. The band is (I guess) strongly influenced by MALEVOLENT CREATION ("Eternal", "In Cold Blood", "The Fine Art Of Murder" era). The riffing and drumming is very similar to the legendary US band, but the good and well-worked structure, sound and composition are missing here. There are some melodic passages that remind me of bands like Sweden’s IN MOURNING (check out the songs ‘Christened Upon The Slab’ or ‘Scorched Earth And Blackened Skies’). The music is brutal and fast but isn’t enough good and catchy to keep my attention. Good songs? ‘Destined To Return’, ‘Not Peace But Pestilence’ and ‘Source Of My Evil’. I know there are some Metalheads who will love this piece of modern American Death Metal, but it does not work for me. Check it out: www.facebook.com/kalopsiametal, www.horrorpaingoredeath.com
