I don't know what's currently going on in Sweden? All of a sudden there are plenty of amazing Death Metal bands around sounding like those classic ones from the early nineties. Guess you, as regular readers of Voices From The Darkside (hehe), are already aware of the music of NECROVATION, DEGIAL or KATALYSATOR? Add KARYBDIS to this list and you have 4 great newcomers. The strange and sad thing here is that I write a review about this band which already splitted up. Still they took the right decision to release this demo anyway. "Devoured By The Depths" is a demo with 3 songs of old school Death Metal with amazing vocals which sound so much like Rami of CONVULSE back on their "World Without God" LP. Fuck man, it puts a smile on my face all the time I listen to these songs! The demo starts with approx. 1:29 minutes of atmospheric keyboard melodies until the old school feast begins. Shredding guitars and "uuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh"! Yezzz! Guys, were did you steal this singer? I'm too fuckin' lazy to find more words to describe the music of KARYBDIS, for all readers who felt that CONVULSE did everything wrong with changing their style after "World Without God" should check out this demo!
