KRATHERION
KRATHERION
Mantra Lucifer Flagelantes
(Old Temple)
41:17min

It's a shame that my final review of the year is a negative one, but this album by KRATHERION is, as my German mates say, scheisse. Sure, the guys in the band are proficient on their instruments, and the vocalist has that throaty South American savagery, but the songs are dull to the extreme. Imagine MARDUK at their most pedestrian, and then sprinkle some random bland slow parts. Uninteresting riffs, combined with poor song arrangement sinks this record utterly. KRATHERION recall those local amateurish bands that seem to take forever opening for the bigger acts. Here's a challenge for all you masochists: try listening to this record in its entirety without ramming a sharp pencil in your eardrums before it has elapsed.
