LEGION OF SADISM

LEGION OF SADISM
The Strongest Force Of Hell
(self-financed)
37:18min

At the Fuck The Commerce Festival I was given this CD for a review and when I inserted it into the player, I didn't like it very much at first. But the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate their sound. Okay, it's not too original, let alone innovative (maybe except for the outro which reminds me a bit of BURZUM's "Filosofem" (for me one of the most boring records ever) - concerning the atmospheric mood). The band plays rather old school Black Metal (not VENOM, rather the Norwegian scene) and their sound perfectly underlines this: although it's a properly pressed CD, the production reminds me a little of DARKTHRONE and the likes: not so polished in order to support a raw impression. For people into pure Black Metal this is not a bad option at all as there doesn't seem to be much movement in that direction with everybody trying to copy DIMMU BORGIR and CRADLE OF FILTH nowadays. And they do create a cold atmosphere indeed. Therefore this CD is a nice occasion to take a breath. So if you really need stuff like this and don't care about (or even like) a sort of a naive approach (they're no bad musicians, though), this might indeed be of interest for you.
