MORD
MORD
Morde
(Black Attakk)
47:57min

...and now for something completely different: raw, primitive Black Metal in the BURZUM / DARKTHRONE vein. Sometimes I ask myself: why is everybody playing this style? Usually I conclude with something like: so what! As long as it's good... MORD (side project of German Black Metallers ZORN) come up with 6 pretty long songs of darkness. The production is acceptable for the music they're playing. Nothing on here you wouldn't expect and that might be the problem because MORD fail to captivate me. Maybe it's the weather as spring is approaching but I seriously doubt that this is the crux. I might be a moron in terms of Black Metal but why do I like the aforementioned masters of Black Metal so much then? I mean, yes, the rhythm makes me swing my head a little but I expect a little more than that. There are some Black Metal records that make me shiver whenever I play them, even in the hot summer sun (or maybe it's the sunburn?). "Morde" doesn't. Don't get me wrong: this is a good raw Black Metal album, maybe a little too repetative and therefore monotonous but leaves an okay impression. I wouldn't necessarily buy it because of all the millions of important albums I still need but if you're exclusively into Black Metal or even this sub-genre, buying this one is not a bad idea.
