NECROSIS

NECROSIS
Reborn
(Necrosis Productions)
38:43min

Does anybody still remember these Thrashers from Santiago de Chile? I also thought they put their band to rest again after they had unleashed their excellent "Enslaved To The Machine" album in 2001 upon this planet, following their classic debut full length "The Search" back in 1988. It really always takes an eternity until this outfit comes up with new material. NECROSIS always struggled with line-up problems and other shit, so it is really no big surprise that drummer Andres Nacrur is the only remaining original member in the recording line-up of the album (at least if you count the years when the band became a full fledged band in 1987). The third effort, logically entitled "Reborn", isn't that brandnew anymore as it was already recorded back in 2009. The disc features eight new songs and a remake / cover version of Andres' other older band FALLOUT. This band probably might be unknown to most of our readers (me included). FALLOUT was a Power / Thrash outfit which featured Anton Reisenegger (ex - PENTAGRAM / CRIMINAL) in its line-up as well and was active in the late 80s releasing two demo tapes back then. But back to NECROSIS. "Reborn" is the continuation of their 2001 work. The horde still forges an alloy of old school Thrash Metal with slight modern elements in its sound. It has everything a Thrasher expects from a cool album, like intense and crunchy riffing, excellent leads, angry vocals and powerful drum work which always pushes the songs forward. The pace of the nine tracker varies but it is mostly in the uptempo department. Nevertheless the musicians avoid of being too fast, giving the tunes enough room to develop well executed and arranged Thrashers. Worth of being mentioned is also the sound quality of the disc which leaves nothing to be desired. Responsible for the production was Andres Narcrur who gave "Reborn" a very powerful and natural sound. When I see what unneccessary re-releases see the light of day these days on and on, then it's a shame that labels totally overlook bands like NECROSIS. But that's a different story. So I just hope that the quartet won't need so long again to come up with a follow up album. This solid piece of Metal is another proof of the great potential of the Chilean scene that underlines its reputation. So check this out while the iron is still hot. www.facebook.com/necrosisofficial.
