NOMINON
NOMINON
Recremation
(Konqueror Records)
34:01min

Wow! NOMINON have apparently become really fast in releasing new material and fortunately the weaknesses of the "The True Face Of Death" MCD I exposed in my review above have been completely eliminated. The production at Necromorbus Studio (INSISION, WATAIN, ONDSKAPT, ARMAGEDDA) has turned out excellent and is as heavy and powerful as it should be. Musically the mediocrity of the MCD has been overcome, too, and "Recremation" offers varied Swedish old school Death Metal often reminding me of NECROPHOBIC, but with less emphasis on Black Metal atmospheres, but riffing, vocals and drive go in that direction, I think. Gloomier slower passages, a lot of thrashing rage and crushing early 90s Death Metal spirit with the hooks and melodies reek from "Recremation" and if you're into the true Swedish D/M-style this release should be a valuable addition to your collection. Due to the good sound and surprising songwriting NOMINON do not sound too retro, not too old-fashioned, but have again reached the timeless intensity and quality of their debut, though they definitely sound somewhat different (and better) today. Chris "Thorncross" Moyen fans should also buy this, because he did the artwork on this album, and vinyl-addicts should check Blood Harvest Records, because they will release "Recremation" on LP with a bonus song, which is a cover of WHIPLASH! www.nominon.com, www.konqueror-records.com, www.bloodharvest.se
