RAPE PILLAGE & BURN
RAPE PILLAGE & BURN
Songs Of Death... Songs Of Hell
(Ibex Moon Records)
16:30min

This is a release I have on my list already for a couple of weeks to write a review about. What happened that it took me so long? Perhaps the fact that I'm not sure how to describe the quality of this band. Again it was the great compilation "Resurrected In Festering Slime" which brought me to the listening pleasure of this band. The featured song is called '1911' and totally kicks ass with its great leading riff and the awesome sound which reminded me to the few recordings done from TRAUMATIC. Man, '1911' is a killer song. A few weeks later I received the MCD "Songs Of Death... Songs Of Hell" and listening to the rawness of the included 5 songs is a huge pleasure for each dedicated fan of old school Death Metal. Perhaps I go too far when I write that only AUTOPSY have this rawness RAPE PILLAGE & BURN offers here on this recording, perhaps it's the perfect description - I don't know and I don't care, left to say is that this MCD is another example of great Death Metal with an unbeatable old school flair. I love it, and just because of the great songs and not because of the fact that RAPE PILLAGE & BURN includes former members of DISMEMBER, UNANIMATED (Robert Cabeza) or DIVINE EVE (Matt Killen and Michael Sleavin). Killer recording, killer band. Check out www.myspace.com/rapepillageandburn666 or www.ibexmoonrecords.com.
