THE RESISTANCE
THE RESISTANCE
Rise From Treason
(earMusic / Edel Records)
12:40min

Finally former IN FLAMES members Jesper Strömblad and Glenn Ljungström reunited again and joined forces with Marco Aro (ex - THE HAUNTED, FACE DOWN) on vocals and Chris Barkensjö (ex - GRAVE, KAAMOS) on drums, to sail from now on under the flag of THE RESISTANCE. For myself, I really appreciate that one of my favourite twin guitar duos (Jesper and Glenn) are playing in a band together again. Because their cooperation in DIMENSION ZERO has not lasted for too long. Anyway. THE RESISTANCE are not that typical melodic Death Metal outfit from Gothenburg you might expect. They are much more brute, nasty and straight into your face. The famous Gothenburg sound is not playing the leading part here. In this case, the guys are delivering a more massive Hardcore / Thrash / Death Metal wall of sound. On "Rise From Treason" the melodies are second rate. The pinch bar rules instead. Above all, the barking and shouting organ of Marco Aro is reigning over the wall of sound. Do you remember THE HAUNTED's "The Haunted Made Me Do It" or "One Kill Wonder" album? Exactly. Again, another intense experience for sure. This little advanced 4 track teaser already foreshadowes something big to come. Hopefully their debut album will be released until spring / summer latest. For all Gothenburg sound addicts, I really would like to recommend to you song no. 2, 'Face To Face', to start with first. But the other 3 songs, 'My Fire', 'Rise From Treason' and 'Slugger' are also totally killer and will convince you within no time. So please give this new band with old guys a chance and check them out asap. A real good worthy release in young 2013 so far. Go and get it now. www.facebook.com/theresistanceswe
