SAMOT is a band from Chile, formed in 2014. A year later they released the demo "The Beginning" and this year (2017) there's this EP "Across The Abyss". The moniker SAMOT seems to be coming from both members forename written backwards. This EP has four tracks which are in style of Swedish Death / Black Metal. The vocals and some drumparts are Death, but the rest is mainly Black in the vein of first DISSECTION, SACRAMENTUM and the likes. The track 'The Calling' has a few cool riffs. On 'Across The Abyss' it becomes clear that the elements of adoration aren't reused in a creative or innovative manner. Not like, for instance, a band like INFINITUM OBSCURE was capable of. SAMOT does know how to create a good atmosphere, but things remain too tame and modest. A sporadic blastbeat doesn't change a thing. It isn't bad, but it's not good enough.
