SATANIC WARMASTER
SATANIC WARMASTER
Opferblut
(No Colours Records)
37:08min

To be honest I am not very familiar with Finnland's underground Black Metallers SATANIC WARMASTER, but hey it is never too late to learn, right? Their newest album contains 7 new songs of traditional old school Black Metal that fortunately does not orientate on the Scandinavian legends, because there are way too many bands outthere who do it the DARKTHRONE way. SATANIC WARMASTER are a positive exception in my eyes, the intense scream vocals remind me of old ABIGOR, the riffing is full of variation, which is rather unusual when it comes to old school Black Metal and most songs are quite fast with some epic breakdowns here and there. 'A Wolf Cries In Anger' or the closing 'Farewell To The Fallen' create a hateful, mighty feeling and are small hymns catalysing desperation and other sinister emotions. "Opferblut" is a good album and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys traditional Black Metal that has its own fascinating identity and stands above all these mere copies plaguing the market. Of course "Opferblut" is also available on vinyl, check out www.no-colours-records.de for prices and shit.
