(Morbid Reality Records)

If I remember correctly I became familiar with this totally unknown LA Thrash entity for the first time, known better as SCRAPMETAL, when guitarist and songwriter Juan Garcia (ex - EVILDEAD, ex - AGENT STEEL, MASTERS OF METAL) pointed me one of their flyers. SCRAPMETAL had just shared the stage with MASTERS OF METAL somewhere in the LA area (cannot remember precisely anymore at which venue that happened, sorry) - and I sort of became curious to know more about them. This lead my way on Youtube where I found a couple of videos and music samples for SCRAPMETAL's 11-track debut full-length record, titled "Hellbound", that in fact saw the light of day in the first half of 2011 already. And I sincerely gotta tell you that right from the first seconds, I was totally blown away by the band's frantic, face-ripping Thrash Metal assaults. Not only this is some greatly produced Thrash Metal but also the kind of Thrash Metal I love to hear most: fast, wild, heavy, harsh and beautifully hook-filled Thrash Metal that combines the ancient spirit and vibe of early SLAYER, KREATOR, S.O.D. and DESTRUCTION - coming mercilessly straight on our faces without being sorry for a slight moment and asking no excuses. This is true old school Thrash Metal to the bone; no bullshit, no gimmicks - just 100% bullet belt-proof Thrash Metal played with the absolutely right attitude and enough determination to make all of us beg for more. This 4-piece LA Thrash act is truly on fire on "Hellbound", even proving to have enough potential and that much needed kick-ass value to become the next big thing coming out from Los Angeles, CA, if my crystal ball won't lie to me. Fuck... sometimes it's amazing how new killer band discoveries can be made. Thanks Juan Garcia for giving me this golden hint - and especially thanks to the whole SCRAPMETAL horde for giving us some more hope again that true old school Thrash Metal hasn't been wiped away from the face of the earth yet. My last free advise for all of you is pretty simple actually: you should enjoy some ice-cold drinx when playing this record... and shamelessly LOUD!!
