Becoming Unique
(Remission Records)
40:25min

From what I remember, the last record by this German outfit received some pretty positive reviews which often compared them to "Testimony ..." - era PESTILENCE. Which clearly marked the prime of these fine young (well, back then at least) Dutchmen for yours truly. And since I don't have too high hopes for their reunion (or however ego-monster Mameli may label it) I thought that this could be worth a try. I know it's not exactly fair to confront a quite new band with such expectations, but let's face it: with a title like "Becoming Unique" you better be sure to come up with something to live up to such a bold statement. Talking about wishful thinking... I could more or less copy-and-paste the review of DETONATION's last record here. Quite technical Death / Thrash, without the clean hooks but with far more savage vocals instead. Their vocalist comes pretty close to master van Drunen. But regardless of all the obvious effort put into this the result once more bores the living hell out of me. Really all of the songs sound more or less the same and lack rawness, dirt, - well, actually everything that makes Metal exciting to these ears. Sorry guys, there are dozens of bands out there that are not half as talented as you are but "average" is simply not enough anymore... www.remissionrecords.de
