SULPHUR AEON
SULPHUR AEON
Sulphur Psalms
(Imperium Productions)
16:59min

I gotta confess that I don't know shit about these guys, apart from the fact that they are hailing from Germany and were founded in early 2010. But judging them by the quality of the four songs on their debut demo "Sulphur Psalms" I bet that they have already been involved in one or another band before, simply because their songwriting, production and musical skills sound so extremely professional already. And in fact, when I did a little bit of research on the net, I found out at least three other German bands that guitarist "T." is / was involved in. But as I'm not quite sure if they really want that info spreaded, I better not mention any names here. SULPHUR AEON seems to be a completely new outlet musically anyway, so it could probably only mislead you here. After I listened to the four songs on their "Sulphur Psalms" demo a couple of times I was so impressed that I would even dare to say that SULPHUR AEON is one of the most promising new Death Metal hordes from Germany since the godly HATESPAWN! Their overall musical approach is very much in the old school vein, first and foremost extremely violent and brutal, yet spiced up with some very cool guitar harmonies whenever necessary. Even though the comparison doesn't really match you could still somehow say that they ended up with a style that mixes the rawness and intensity of a band like ANGELCORPSE with the dark atmosphere and melodic side of classic DISSECTION... and as strange as it may sound in the first place, it works out extremely well! You can easily check out all four demo songs ('Watch You Burn', 'Legion We Are', 'Aeons Of Sulphur' and '40mm Psalms') at the band's myspace site www.myspace.com/sulphuraeon to make up your own mind. The true old school Metalheads among you can still order a copy of the tape version (professional printed cover on glossy paper with lyrics and pics included and pro-printed tapes) for 4,00 Euro plus postage (1,50 Euro in Germany; 3,50 Euro in Europe and 6,50 Euro for the rest of the world) from imperiumprod@googlemail.com. But you better hurry up because it's limited to 100 numbered copies only!
