The cover of this album didn't look convincing from the beginning, but since despite being a big fan of old Brazilian stuff like SARCO'FAGO, VULCANO, SEPULTURA, MUTILATOR, DORSAL ATLANTICA and such, I never heard any TAURUS' stuff before, I decided to give it a chance. Despite being completely sung in the band's native language (with the exception of one song, where some English lyrics are mixed as well), it's obvious that the topics the band deals with are the typical politics, corruption and war. When it comes to music - it seems that TAURUS never had the characteristics that were typical for the savage 80s Brazilian Thrash sound (relying on a review I've read in SNAKEPIT zine), and this album sounds really "American" and harmless, with the exception of some guitar riffs resembling DESTRUCTION, but not nearly as interesting or powerful. It does sound mature and it's heard clearly that the musicians are definitely not newcomers, but during the almost 50 minutes this album lasts, but there are too many mid-paced riffs, which got me really bored while I was trying hard to listen to this album again and again, in order to get it better digested. Nevertheless, when all is said and done - I didn't find any really memorable riffs or outstanding songs, which I could define as "highlights". With all due respect to a band that was formed nearly 3 decades ago and came back with a self-financed album, there are many way better albums this country and this genre in general can offer. www.myspace.com/taurusofficial
