THANATOSCHIZO
THANATOSCHIZO
Insomnious Nightlift
(Rage Of Achilles Records)
66:52min

This is exactly the type of bands that I can't stand at all! Pseudo pathetic Dark-Gothic-Doom-Progressive-whatever Metal (?) with a silly misleading bandname / logo and a wannabe intellectual attitude. Musically rather predictable with the usual dark growled (as well as "heroic" type) male vocals and (of course) an additional supposed-to-be-nice sounding female counterpart. Even though I gotta admit that the songwriting / musicianship of this Portuguese six-piece sounds quite experienced and matured ("Insomnious Nightlift" is already their second full length, following 2001's debut "Schizo Level"), they simply bore me to death! This is definitely not Metal at all and usually shouldn't even get a mention here. But nice as we are, we considered it would be better to warn all those of you who probably expect something far more brutal because of the combination of the words THANATOS and SCHIZO in their moniker... The label info recommends this to fans of SOLEFALD, THE GATHERING, ARCTURUS and ANATHEMA and announces the re-release of "Schizo Level" in mid 2003 as well. But you know what? I don't care, cause if I really want to listen to experimental music, I most certainly won't search around for it within the Metal genre. There's far more exciting stuff to be discovered and this here is definitely not my cup of tea at all! Label contact: www.rageofachilles.com
