THORON
THORON
Return To Dust
(No Colours Records)
38:51min

Pretty interesting new stuff here. The first song on this CD reminds me a lot on faster THE DUSKFALL tunes. Quite straight Swedish sounding Death Metal in the Göteborg-style including fast-forward drumming combined with great riffs and a brutal voice. Besides that there are some fantastic melodic riffs included, too. A very good beginning and the first three songs are all in this vein. Very good, fresh sounding and fuckin' great. I'm pretty surprised. This is the first official release from this Swedish horde called THORON. It includes 3 songs recorded in May 2006 (the above mentioned great songs) and 6 songs from their "Return To Dust" demo from 2005. So what about these 6 songs? They are not worse than the newer songs, probably a little bit more Black Metal-like, but that's nothing negative here. Only the singer doesn't sound as convincing as on the 3 new songs. Still I have to admit that I'm pretty surprised and kinda blown away from this new band. Really recommendable! So check them out if you can! Have a look at www.no-colours-records.de
